I have been doing an extensive amount of research on headsets for the Xbox one. I have considered wireless headsets such as Astro A50s and Turtle Beach Elite 800x. I have decided to go with a wired headset or one wireless possibility. I'm thinking Astro A40 TR or creating my own headset using a pair of good stereo headphones such as sennheisers or audio-technicas with a modmic type mic and the Astro mixamp. Since I am using the mixamp the stereo headphones would then be using virtual surround sound. The wireless headset I was thinking of is the tritton katana 7.1 hd that is coming out this month. (Link [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . com/prod/katana.asp). I'm waiting for these to release so I can read up on reviews for if. Any thoughts?? Thanks!

One last thing, Cost is not really an issue, willing to spend up to $300.

So ive used many headsets, and each have there pros and cons. Turtle beaches are kind of expensive and the cables are kind of shit. Just not reliable in my book. Astros are awesome but mic quality is shit and the design is fragile in some spots. Now over the past year, ive been using Polk audio headsets and the one I like most is the Polk Striker Pro ZX. There Audiophile quality and they are extremely comfortable. The head band and pieces that attach the ear cups are made made of metel so its a little heavier but way more durable. All the cords are completely changeable so if a cord goes bad, just order a new cord. Its super simply. Also, even though its not a gaming headset, I use a pair of Shure SE 846 which are really expensive but there are amazing. They don't have a mic but are way better then and Beats or Bose In Ear monitors. I use them when I'm gaming alone. The cheaper model Shure SE 215 are also fairly decent.

If youre thinking about the A40 i would go for it. Also had a A40, now i have a Astro A50 and a Turtle beach PX5 (the PX5 is over 2 years old) both are great Headsets. PX5 is cheaper but still very very good! love it. But A50 is the best atm i think but the Price is high...

i had thought about the a50 but I think the a40s will better suit me in that regard. I would like to know how successful it is to basically make my own gaming headset as well!

Astro A50's.

100% they could be considered fragile, but the sound quality is amazing and they are worth the purchase.

If youre willing to spend 300 for a xbox headset i would definitly buy the AstroA40 TRs. Theyre just simply the best for console gaming..
Wired headsets are also better but thats my opinion. Also, if youre a competitive player you wont be able to attend LANs with a wireless headset.
