Ive got the 6 core FX chip & my friend has the i5-2320

Is it worth me swapping cpu's and boards with him?

will that i5 benefit me?

UPDATE: I swapped over, everything works apart from my 290X.

I know the 290X isnt fried as i was just using it, the board also works as it works off the onbaord HDMI. The mobo is from a Dell Inspiron 620, could that be my issue? anything like a bios update i could try?

Ive got a new Asus LGA1155 mobo at work i can grab tomorrow to see though.

I have an fx-6300 too... Wondering if I should swap it out for an i5 as well.

I'd swap it out for a i5 in a heartbeat.

In my opinion, Intel CPUs perform much better than AMD. I switched out an FX-6300 for a Pentium Annivesary Edition which has 4 less cores and instantly noticed that the Intel CPU performed much better for the games that I played.

From having an FX-6300 I realised that in games which primarily use your CPU such as ArmA 3 that an Intel CPU worked much better than it.

I'd say do the swap but that's just my opinion.

Intel in my opinion are much better i have a i5 4690k and i think they are great CPU's, if you have an old mobo for a month it shouldn't make a difference

I'd keep the 6300 tbh. It is still a pretty good CPU, especially on CPU hungry tasks and games. It would perform much better in editing/rendering, and also performs really well on GTA 5 (which is core hungry).

Its your choice if you want to swap it out or not, but in this case you're not getting a lot more performance.
