It is illegal in some places actually. Its advised to call the store and see or not, also more times than not they are even cool with it.

My uncle does this a lot and finds upwards of $1k+ a week searching through his neighborhood. He has found 50" flatscreens and more, it's pretty cool tbh.

Yea cause everyone just tosses 50 inch TV's into their dumpster.

But I think its alright, I wouldn't do it though.

I personally do not think there is anything wrong with it but you do have to watch that you don't get caught. It is technically illegal. The certain store, even though they are throwing it out, depending where the dumpster is located, can trespass you because it is either their property, or property they lease. They throw it out because that is what their corporate office tells them to do, and they cannot control that. Once a person throws something out it becomes public domain and therefore is not considered stealing.
