If you knew anything about economics you would know that raising the minimum wage isn't going to do anything. Prices for goods and services will just go up to match it.

Higher minimum wage, higher price of foods, higher price of transport, higher price of medical care.

People are dumb, we have to remember that Dusknoir.

No no MANY people are dumb.. Almost a majority, also I didn't see you guys mention that there's also financial aid which I THINK you guys are forgetting about affording college, the funding for college should be the last thing you need to worry about when attending college, according to multiple teachers at my school. So in MY OPINION I do think the guy has a point when he says that it's their fault for not graduating high school I mean let's look at the facts here. Most of the people in this generation are pot heads or alcoholics who just hate school and don't give a **** for it so they don't try or they care too much on social media to give effort into school.

Not everyone is eligible for gov't benefits like that...

College doesn't also guarantee success because there are lots of graduate students who have no where to go and end up at minimum wage jobs just to pay off student loans >.>

That's because schools aren't there to help you, with no child left behind you are just a test score. The school uses you so they can get more funding.

Woah woah woah, calm down there bud. I agree with you, but I disagree with your reasonings.

First and foremost 15/hr min wage is a horrible idea. Why? In WA, min wage is let's say for the sake of even numbers is about 10/hour (it's really 9.47). If we raise it to 15, that is a 50% increase to minimum wage workers. That's all great, but what about the guys making 30/hr before the new min wage? They didn't get a pay increase. How are these companies that pay minimum wage going to be able to stay open now that they have to pay 50% more to their employees? They raise the prices. This goes back to the guy who is making 30/hr and didn't get a raise. It makes their life harder, and ultimately within 10 years will make a lot more people homeless and ultimately jobless.

A minimum wage job is an entry level job, you aren't meant to be able to support a family on it. You are just supposed to get enough skills in those jobs so that you can get a career.

I hate to break it to you, but a lot of people who have finished high school and even college have these entry level, minimum wage paying jobs. They have the education, but no skills for a career. Just because you finish high school doesn't mean you will even have a job. Look at all the COLLEGE grads who are jobless.

This is ridiculous. OP, do you even have any work experience yourself? In a similar situation? I do. I was severely over worked in a kitchen, and being extremely under paid for my work. Minimum wage is ridiculous. I was working 40+ hours a week at 14, and only making £150. Luckily, I didn't need that money to survive at the time but if I were trying to be self sufficient off of a wage like that, I'd be homeless in no time. The fact that you're arguing against a living wage is laughable.

that is not a true. 10% increase in min wage does not equal a 10% increase in inflation. It seems logical that it would until you really think about it. The majority of people do not earn min wage. If a restaurant were to increase prices equal to the increase in min wage their main clientele (who would be earning more than min wage) would buy less. Yes they might increase prices slightly but it would be small compared to the increase in min wage. They would have to eat the costs.

Do some research, most people agree that increasing min wage wouldn't wouldn't increase the price of everything by the same amount, and it would actually be a good thing.

People are dumb, like yourself, you have to remember that.

Increasing minimum wage without increasing the cost of living is what you are suggesting, and guess what, it will not work. I don't get how people don't understand this. You used a restaurant as an example, why not supermarkets? Oh yea, I have an idea...

It's simple. Right now stores have a hard time staying open, now they have to pay their employees 50% more. That means they raise the prices of the things they sell. The other people (non min wage workers) did not get this raise, so it hurts them more. Look way back, back in 1950, Nominal Min Wage was 0.75/hr. The cost of living was centered around that. Due to the liberals and other morons thinking raising that wage is a good idea, we are here today at 9.47/hr (in WA state), and guess what? Prices went up, didn't they? Back then, you could get a 10 lb bag of potatoes for 35 cents. What is it today? Like 50 bucks? Look at more of this stuff.

Raising min wage will raise the cost of living which will put a hurting on people who make more than minimum wage. All you are doing is putting un skilled, minimum wage workers closer to the pay of skilled workers. Why go get a college education if it means I'm only making 2 bucks an hour more than the guy working at mcdonalds? At mcdonalds I just flip burgers. At the other job I have 100k in student loans I have to pay off, and I actually have to think.
