GDFR wrote I got this today, the teacher told us that we had to hand in our phones before the lesson. i said no and then she said "Would you like to go to isolation?" i said no but are you taking resoncibility for anything that i miss when you have my phone. She then she sent me to isolation. The teacher in isolation said that if i didnt hand over my phone then i would be suspended for 3days. i said "Sweet a five day weekend." the teacher then put her hand into my pocket and i grabbed her hand and i said that if she lays another finger on me then i will be presing charges against her for assult.

In the end I won.

You clearly missed English class by having your phone lol. Again, school is a place you learn, not where you figure out what you are having for dinner. If your parents or guardian needs to get a hold of you that bad, they can call the school and get forwarded to your teacher.

I agree with both sides, I do not think a student should have their phone in a classroom, however I don't believe a teacher should have it. Your phone should be locked in your locker, or car.

You BY FAR did not win, in fact you put a big target on your back. Teachers are a higher up entity if you will than you. They mingle and have their teacher group, so that teacher tells 5 teachers what you did, and they tell 5 teachers what you did, pretty soon ever teacher has an extra eye on you waiting to catch you doing something wrong.

I wasnt even on my phone, she said for all students to give her there phones. i stood up for what i believe is right and that she does not have controll over our propety. I will just wait for monday and see if there is a round two lol.

Basically what I was told by some teachers that I was really cool with a n the principal is that you have NO RIGHTS when you enter the school. You do what they tell you, because they are responsible for your well being and education. Acting defiant and telling them that you will not give them your phone doesn't make you a revolutionary. You just look disrespectful. The school has the right to take up your phone. Many school hand books when include it in the handbook. You signed a paper when you registered for classes saying that you will abide by the schools rules. Most of the time, I can promise you that it says phone are not allowed in class. Mine did.

The teacher is not taking your phone away from you. You are getting it back at the end of class, or the end of the day if the office takes it way from you.

They do what is best for your education. Saying that "I need it for an emergency" is terrible excuse. If your parents needed to get a hold of you they would know to call the office. If you are a special case then you need to take that up with the schools office.

There is no way to justify being defiant when your school tries to limit your access to your phone. You are there to learn not there to be distracted.

I havent signed ANY papers saying that i will abide by there rules and neither have my parents. The teacher had no need to take my phone when i was not on it nor intending to go on it. If i had signed a peice of paper saying that the could take my phone then fine but i havent and never will.

Whether you signed something or not, it would be in the student hand book. You consent to all the rules and more when you are enrolled in that school.

Cellphones are a privilege not a right.

If the school is against it why argue? Just follow the rules.

I think its fair enough that they are so opposed to people using phones in their class, it is quite disrespectful and rude imo. In some cases I think using your phone in class should be allowed, urgent cases.
