I have never seen a time in where rap is so, well, terrible...

I can barely understand the words they are singing/rapping. However, there is people like Kendrick, J.Cole, and Big Sean that are killing the game, but people like young thug are making me want to jump off the edge of the world.

Nothing is wrong with today's rap. Just cause you see a small majority of these terrible rappers making it, doesn't mean the good ones haven't had a turn. Plus, you just listed three rap artists that you liked.

My biggest problem with it is that a lot of rappers are just saying the same thing over and over again. The only difference is that it is only slightly worded differently. Mainstream rap is just horrible these days. Underground is really where it's at.

what year were you born in might I ask? Rap has been a genre of music since the 60's.. well hip hop, what we know of popular rap is from mainly the late late 80's early 90s and early 2000's. I highly doubt you were around to witness hip hop from the 60's and 70's.. the thing that drives me with rants on music being bad now a days is the users making claims that rap nowdays suck is that they themselves havent seen it evolve enough to say that..

Going off the assumption you like most people on this site started listening to rap in like 2003 maybe (and that goes without saying you UNDERSTOOD it, just heard it) you only know of mainstream rappers from your childhood. What about all the shit rappers from 1990? You think there wasnt shitty styles and rappers then? Not everyone is born a legend and sure mainstream music might have been more preferred back then but thats because it was new fresh etc, it was edgy to say f*ck feds, it was edgy to have girls almost naked in music video etc. Dont take this literal and make of it what you will but rap hasnt really changed a whole lot.. Who was popular when I was a kid, lets see DMX (good) biggie smalls (good) bone thugs n harmony (good) 50 cent (meh) fat joe (meh) juvenille (meh).. whos popular now? Kendrick (good) j cole (good) big sean? what (meh) yung thug (meh).. What im trying to get at is that EVERY year of rap, there is good and bad rappers both who are famous.

Rap has become such a popular genre that everyone wants to get in it, its not very difficult for people to match a catchy beat and get rich. All in all, if you dont like the rappers you consider shit DONT LISTEN TO THEM -_-

Also I would like to add music is all subjective just like art, humor, film etc. Its all personal preference, what YOU find "good" *cough* *cough* big sean to be good, I might find to be complete shit.. I love yung lean, like I love his music and ALOT of people DONT like yung lean. Yung Lean making music doesnt harm the rap culture, it doesnt harm charts it doesnt harm the style of rap do you know why? Because its not the 90s anymore, the world is expanding and opening doors to many opportunities, sub genres are on the rise and its a great things. Rap is open to anything and its great to see it where it is today. There is plenty of great new and fresh rap out there, you just arent looking hard enough.. turn off the radio and start listening to mixtapes..

Big Sean that are killing the game

Oh boy.

There's always been a plethora of shit tier rappers about, you just haven't experienced other generations of rap to the same degree you have experienced the current one. So you haven't noticed past, shitty rappers.

Also, some songs with Gucci and Young Thug are fire.
