Im pretty excited, today I finally gathered the money to drop on a new pricier case and gpu. I got a Corsair 760T full tower chassis and a gigabyte G1 gaming gtx 970. I was going to go for the R9 390 for the 8gb vram but I figured id go Nvidia because these days everything gets optimized for theyre cards. Not to mention certain nvidia in game settings. Im upgrading from a mid tower case so the 760 T should be amazing to work with with its space and cable management. Hence why I decided to go get the triple fan gpu that would take up as much space as possible!

Final cart price with 3 day shipping - $550.32

Current components -
Old case - NZXT guardian
Cpu- AMD 8350 octa core oc'd to 5.0
Mobo- Msi 970 Gaming
Ram - 16Gb Trident X oc'd to 2133
Old gpu - (2x) R9 270x in crossfire
HDD - 2x WD blue 1 Tb
Psu - Corsair cx750m

Cant wait to get my new Components TTG!

If you're running at 1080p then I don't really understand the 970 purchase, unless you're really annoyed about power usage, or you play games without xfire support...

It's also a little weird to upgrade the case when you're getting a card which will output less power.

What do you mean you don't understand the purchase of a 970 for 1080p? A 970 is a great card for 1080p and will max most games out at 1080p.

If you dont know what the gigabyte G1 version of the card is or didnt look it up. You wouldnt understand the case purchase. Its a triple fan gtx 970 450mm long. And thats the max size even for the full tower that im purchasing. My old mid tower would never fit it. That and i want to begin a custom water cooling loop and need more space for all of my other hopes and dreams as well. crossfire wasnt to enjoyable for me unless on battlefield. Most games experience flickering. And i cant have anti-aliasing on at all. So i went for a single gpu solution thats accumulativly better than both of my old gpus combined. I want 100+ frames at 1080p and later higher resolutions.

It's a good card, I have the exact same one and you are right it is extremely long and takes up the entire length of my XLATX case.

I was going to go for the R9 390 for the 8gb vram but I figured id go Nvidia because these days everything gets optimized for theyre cards

Their*

This makes no sense. Everything does not get "optimized" for their cards in particular. AMDs drivers are actually better than most Nvidias drivers right now as the Nvidia drivers seem to be causing some problems.

Also, the 390 would have been your better option. It is cheaper and out-performs the 970 any day. The 8gb of VRAM also comes useful for higher resolutions.

Oy, Dingleberry. Don't take it to heart. I was speaking metaphorically. i don't see why you had to go and try to make this an issue. I said that specifically because in certain games nvidia has trademarked setting's. Phsx, Nvidia Hairworks, ect.

Just because a game has "Physx" or any other graphics/physics engine does not mean they are specifically optimized for Nvidias GPUs. A 390 will out perform a 970 on a game with "PhysX".

Its just an engine developed by Nvidia. It doesnt mean they are specifically optimized for Nvidias cards.

So your throwing a fit because i used optimized to summarize nvidias publicity and in game graphical settings. Iv looked at benchmarks, and know the performance difference. Youd be an idiot not to research before purchasing anything at this price point. When it comes down to the grit of my decision i chose the 970 because i wanted the newer maxwell architecture rather than the re used hawaii architecture(i believe is the name) orginally used on the 290x and transferred to the 390. And from what i have seen as far as architectural differences, The maxwell architecture runs better with DX12.1 than can be said for the 390. I mean dont get me wrong, 8gb of vram vs 4 and the slightly lower clock speeds wouldve been nice and more "future proof" but i like nvidias features and UI (Geforce Experience) better. Not to mention the backplate and backlit windforce logo. Im big on aesthetics as well, and there was only one version of the 390 with a backplate. (Asus strix) didnt want because it was too short and i wanted a max length 450MM card. Do you get it now m8?
