LATEST ON JAILBREAKING OR DOWNGRADING PS3 on FIRMWARE 3.55

fail0verflow, a small group of German hackers have left Sony stunned with an exploit that could completely open up their Playstation 3 gaming console. The hack, announced at the Chaos Communication Conference at Berlin, has eradicated a major security barrier and this will now allow users to install homebrew apps, Linux Operating Systems and game ISOs on their console. This, however, is different from how the famed PSJailbreak works its not susceptible to being blocked by firmware updates, nor will it require users to downgrade their firmware. Its not even a Jailbreak, it just makes the device think every software is a legit one thats certified and signed by Sony.
Basic Information About JailBreaking a PS3
- With a Jail Broken Ps3 it gives you the ability to run .PKG files that you will normally not be able to run on a Non Jail Broken system
Some examples of .PKG files are
-Backup Manager( allows you to back up your games and not need the original cd to play)
-Snes and other popular emulators
-FTP servers which allows you to acces your ps3 via PC
- Also with a Jail Broken Ps3 you can host MW2 Challnge and unlock all lobbies with some basic modding which i will explain as we move along in the post
Requirements to Jail Breaking and Downgrading
-To Jail break you must be on Version 3.50 and nothing higher(If your version is 3.41 or lower skip ahead to the Jail Breaking Spoiler)
-The method i will be showing requires either an iPhone2G/3G or an iPod Touch 1st Gen
(Must be Jail Broken using RedSn0w if you need help with that PM me i will be glad to help)
2 Usb Drives(I Highly Recommend But one Can also be used)

All the files needed
What to do on iPhone/iPod
-Go to Cydia
-Search For and install Openssh
-Search for and install BootLace
-Once installed open app and install both OpeniBoot and andriod
-Search For and install Openssh

DownGrading(if on 3.50 if already on 3.41 skip ahead)
First what you need to do is go on WinSCP and login to your device
-Find the ip of your device
-Setting-Click On WiFi-Little arrow next to your connection
-On WinSCP put your IP in the Host Name
-Username:root Password: alpine
-Change to SCP on the bottom
Second if iPhone or iPod is running on Version 3.1.3,4.0,4.0.1 or 4.0.2
-Go to Var file directory
-Locate the files android.img and zimage
-Go to the downgrade files download and select your device
-replace the files in WinSCP with the ones from the download
If your device is on Version 4.2.1(latest)
-Go to VAR file directory
-Click on iDroid folder
-Replace file android.img and zimage with the ones we downloaded
IMPORTANT:ONCE FILES ARE ON DEVICE YOU MUST SELECT BOTH FILES AND RIGHT CLICK TO PROPERTIES AND IN THE BOTTOM MAKE SURE THE NUMBER THERE IS 0777 IF NOT THEN REPLACE IT WITH 0777
Third
In the files we downloaded called DownGrade go to the folder called Flash Drive
- 1st Step
make sure your 1st usb drive is completly empty
drag both files in First Step to 1st usb
-2nd step (if using 2 usbs)
go to the Second Step folder and drag file into empty 2nd USB
-Find the ip of your device
-Setting-Click On WiFi-Little arrow next to your connection
-On WinSCP put your IP in the Host Name
-Username:root Password: alpine
-Change to SCP on the bottom
Second if iPhone or iPod is running on Version 3.1.3,4.0,4.0.1 or 4.0.2
-Go to Var file directory
-Locate the files android.img and zimage
-Go to the downgrade files download and select your device
-replace the files in WinSCP with the ones from the download
If your device is on Version 4.2.1(latest)
-Go to VAR file directory
-Click on iDroid folder
-Replace file android.img and zimage with the ones we downloaded
IMPORTANT:ONCE FILES ARE ON DEVICE YOU MUST SELECT BOTH FILES AND RIGHT CLICK TO PROPERTIES AND IN THE BOTTOM MAKE SURE THE NUMBER THERE IS 0777 IF NOT THEN REPLACE IT WITH 0777
Third
In the files we downloaded called DownGrade go to the folder called Flash Drive
- 1st Step

-Shut Down your iDevice(iPhone or iPod)
3RD Step
-Once completly off Plug your iDevice into the Ps3 with your Sync Cable
-Once plug in Turn Your iDevice on and it will Show you the OpeniBoot Screen
-Press the Power Button on iDevice twice and it ill scroll down to the android guy
then press the home button
-Once you press the home button Turn the switch on your PS3 or Plug it in
ONCE on your iDevice it says Device Ready Wait
You Must Press Your PS3 power button then eject button quick
-Wait Untill Your PS3 turns off
-Once it turns off unplug your iDevice
and power on your Ps3 like normal
THE PS3 will be in Service Mode
(if it is your good up to this point if not then Do steps over)
Step 4
-Turn Off Your PS3
- Get your 1st Usb and PLug it in to the last usb port to the right of your PS3
-Then turn on your ps3 like normal(We are now downgrading to 3.41=D)
-Once device turns itself off Unplug your usb
-Turn on your ps3 like normal and it should be on version 3.41(in Service Mode)
Step 5
(if using one usb go to the pc and delete Both files on usb and add the files from the Second Step Folder)
-Turn off PS3 like normal
-Plug in your 2nd usb(or the usb with the Second Step files in it)
(last usb port to the right of Ps3)
-Turn Ps3 On
(once the ps3 turns off unplug your usb)
YOU SHOULD BE SUCCESFULLY RUNNING ON 3.41
-Turn PS3 completly off threw the remote

JAILBREAKING YOUR PS3
On the PC
-You must open your iDevice with WinSCP again
-Replace android.img and zimage with the ones downloaded from PSFreeDom
The Files will be in the Resources/iPhonDroid do not use the iPhonDroid in the download
-if on 4.2.1 your files are in the iDroid folder on WinSCP
-You must open your iDevice with WinSCP again
-Replace android.img and zimage with the ones downloaded from PSFreeDom
The Files will be in the Resources/iPhonDroid do not use the iPhonDroid in the download
-if on 4.2.1 your files are in the iDroid folder on WinSCP
Once Files Are Replaced Go TO The PS3
Step 1 on PS3
-Take out any disc in system then power off as normal
-Turn off your iDevice
-Flip Off Ps3 switch on back (phat model) Unplug (slim model)
Step 2
-Plug in Your iDevice
-Power on your iDevice and it will open up OpeniBoot
-Click on power button on iDevice twice to scroll down to android man
-Click on the home button and then immediately Flip on the switch on the back of the Ps3 or plug it in if using a slim ps3
-Once on iDevice a little panda appears You Must Click the power button on the ps3 and the the open disc button quickly
-Take out any disc in system then power off as normal
-Turn off your iDevice
-Flip Off Ps3 switch on back (phat model) Unplug (slim model)
Step 2
-Plug in Your iDevice
-Power on your iDevice and it will open up OpeniBoot

How To Host MW2 Challenge Lobby/10TH Prestige
You Must Have a Jail Broken PS3
-Download the ps3 FTP server: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
-Once downloaded load it on to a usb
-Plug in to PS3 and go to the 2ND new folder under games
-Click on the file and install
-Open the FTP Server and it will display an IP (Your PS3s IP)
-In WinSCP put that ip as the host name and leave the username and password blank
at the bottom change it to FTP
-Click on dev_hdd0
-Then Click on Game
-Then Click on BLUS30377
-Then click on USRDIR
-Once in USRDIR
Locate the file named Patch_mp.ff
Replace that file with this file
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (Custum Patch it is Amazing)
or Any Other Patch File You Can Find
Once the file is replace just exit out of the Ps3 FTP server and Start Up MW2
-Download the ps3 FTP server: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
-Once downloaded load it on to a usb
-Plug in to PS3 and go to the 2ND new folder under games
-Click on the file and install
-Open the FTP Server and it will display an IP (Your PS3s IP)
-In WinSCP put that ip as the host name and leave the username and password blank
at the bottom change it to FTP
-Click on dev_hdd0
-Then Click on Game
-Then Click on BLUS30377
-Then click on USRDIR
-Once in USRDIR
Locate the file named Patch_mp.ff

HOW TO HOST CHALLENGE LOBBIES ONLINE
In order to host a Ps3 challenge lobby online
2 Options
-1.Once you have the Patch_mp.ff on your PS3 you can update to the latest Firmware and go Online. (If you update you will no longer have a JailBroken PS3 and also, If their is an update to MW2 you will lose the patch and not be able to Change it)
-2. If you have 2 ps3 You can go under system setting and preform a data transfer from the jailbroken ps3 to your normal ps3 and then you are go to go
2 Options

HOW TO GET NINTENDO AND OTHER EMULATOR ON PS3 AND HOW TO ADD ROMS
Download the Emulator .PKG files from here

Once Downloaded You Put onto a Usb and install threw the ps3 under Gaming the 2ND new folder
To add roms you must open up the ps3 FTP server
Then Login in to your ps3 through WinSCP
(Login Info Host is your ps3 ip Username and Password Blank Change bottom to FTP)
-Click on dev_hdd0
-then click on Game
-Then Chose the one for your specific emulator
Once in your emulators folder
Go To [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Choose and Download Your Rom then insert it into the folder in WinSCP
then Viola just open up the emulator on the ps3 and find the game

Once you have Back Up Manager installed
Go on here and Download the game you want onto your PC(Files are large because they are full games) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR GAME DOWNLOADED
1ST
-Open up the Game that you downloaded and their will be a folder name BLUS_______
This is the folder that you need
-On the usb you open it up and create a folder named GAMEZ
Open that folder and drag in the folder named BLUS_______ That you Downloaded
Then Plug in your usb Open Back Up Manager and then Start up your Game and you are good to go
ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR GAME DOWNLOADED
1ST
-Open up the Game that you downloaded and their will be a folder name BLUS_______
This is the folder that you need

I have a ps3 and I still think xbox 360 modding is way easier.

I have no idea if this works or not, but it looks well done and like you put a lot of time in on it so good work on the effort. In the future you might want to add images, because I know there's always people that can't seem to understand the tutorials without accompanying images. I know how long it can take to do that though, and it does take even more time unfortunately.
