Look up the selective service act

So no, some people didn't have a choice at all.

The fact that there was a draft doesn't matter.

Weren't you making the argument that US soldiers are brave because they CHOSE to go? The draft does not give you a choice. Therefore it does matter and your argument is invalid. Sorry if it wasn't you that said it, but frankly it's too late for me to care who did or who didn't, all I know is you have a twisted view on things.

I don't ever remember saying that. If you can find it, show me.

Sorry, that was Methylamine when he said "Also let me point out that American soldiers willingly go into battle which shows their bravery. The Soviet Union just took people into their army. They didn't really have a say in who goes and who stays. "

Weren't we talking about WW2? I'm sure we were. Anyways I'm done with this rant. You guys keep going out in left field with this discussion. Obviously some of these arguments are also made from childish conclusions and some of you can't seem to keep your language down. Instead you insist on calling each other names. Why can't we have a civilized discussion like grown adults? And unlike you, I am not going to reply again after I said I'm done. So goodbye to this rant. Let it rest in peace.
P.S. They only draft people into the military during tough war times. And you don't have to go to war. Muhammad Ali didn't go. He was banned from boxing for at least 3 years along with a 5 year sentence to prison and a $10,000 fine all for evading the army induction, but he never went to war. Also, he managed to stay out of prison too. This was during the Vietnam war. Now, see what you have me doing? I'm going off-topic. So goodbye one last time.

On this very thread you have called people ignorant and said that they lack intelligence.
That adds nothing to your argument, it is simply an ad hominem attack which serves no purpose in a 'civilized discussion.'

And you don't have to go to war. Muhammad Ali didn't go. He was banned from boxing for at least 3 years along with a 5 year sentence to prison and a $10,000 fine all for evading the army induction, but he never went to war.

Muhammad Ali was under the false paradigm of having a choice. It's a Hegelian Dialectic in action.
He could choose either the right hand, or the left, but both were going to punch him in the face.
That is not a true choice. A true choice would have been joining the army, or not joining the army.
By this standard you could say that soviet soldiers also had a choice, join the army or be killed.
It's still a choice, right?

Please don't worry about replying and ruining your, 'I'm done with this thread' statement.
I won't hold it against you if you want to defend yourself and I'm sure no one else will either.

Sorry that I'm trying to stay on topic by talking about the war that the picture in the original rant came out of.

Law abiding citizens don't have a choice if they are drafted.
