8GB 290x. Extra VRAM helps push the higher resolution. GTX 970 isn't a bad shout either though. Your current card will run triple monitors, easily but gaming on all 3, you will see a considerable drop in performance.

It supports up to 4 monitors but its depends on if you want to game on them or just for general use.

abit of both really, mostly gaming

If you actually want to game on three monitors you are going to need some serious power. What resolution are you planning on gaming at?

Im using these monitors

I wouldnt be gaming on demanding games really,

CSGO
RUST
Mortal Kombat.

Here is a GTx 970:
Nothing demanding

If you aren't running anything too demanding, you might not need dual 970s

One MIGHT be fine.

Bare VRAM and power

Will out-perform a 970 at 5760x1080. You'll want to upgrade your PSU for this card though, 450W just isn't safe for a 290/290x IMHO.

Three screens is not as hard to run as everyone makes out. The 270x can run bf4 on medium settings easily. A single 970 is more than enough to max it out.

Unless you have 3 144hz a single 970/290x is enough.

Single 970 won't max AAA titles at 5760x1080. 8GB 290x will handle the higher resolution much better than the 970 would, but yes, a single 970 would provide a playable experience across 3x1080p panels and wouldn't be a bad choice.

my 4gb 290 is capable of playing bf4 on ultra with 3 screens, averging 40/50fps depending on the map. Of course it cant run at 16x msaa but its still capable of maxing out the detail.

To be honest, im thinking just having 3 monitors. I would occasionally game on all 3 at the same time but the games are not that demanding
