-Blazer wrote Definitely go with a popular brand name just because you know they will be reliable and are very common so they would not be hard to install or repair if anything were to happen. And you do NOT need 6000 watts, that is just way to much and no matter what speakers you buy the sound of the speakers will just be drowned out by the bass. Either get 2 12's or 1 15. And since you said you know nothing about cars just remember that when you get the sub-woofer you will need an amp that has enough wattage for the sub and the speakers combined. You will also need to get new speakers because stock speakers will blow out and be destroyed as soon as you turn the music up to to there being to high of wattage.
That last part is not necessarily true. I havent upgraded my speakers and they are fine.
I wouldnt get new speakers as you said these are your first but to be honest subs are a money pit.
Do not buy them unless you expect to spend money.

3005 wrotei said that because if he was going to buy an amp that was made to put out 6000 watts your defiantly gonna want to get new speakers. Trust me on that because stock speakers are not made to be able to push much wattage, especially not anywhere close to keep up with 6000 watts.-Blazer wrote Definitely go with a popular brand name just because you know they will be reliable and are very common so they would not be hard to install or repair if anything were to happen. waffle wrote First off what kind of car are you getting? Because if you run two 15s that's going to be a massive box and you need a lot of air space. I'd run one and have it set up just right, but like mentioned before check into sundown, PSI, maybe an mtx 9500. Heck I had 2 15 Alpine type Rs in my old truck and that was loud as hell.
I'm getting a ford escape it has a decent amount of room

Please keep your music to yourself, we have out own radio and do not want to hear your music so loud it is blurry and vibrating my hotdog. I hate it when the little lowered Honda civic wants to pull up next to me in my lifted truck and blare his music to the point I am worried about him cracking my glass.
If you do decide to pull up next to me at a stop light with your music blaring and your windows down, I will pull forward and give you a nice puff of some of my exhaust. If you don't want to be choking and smelling like exhaust for the day then keep your music at a respectable level.
Thank you.

If you would like to let us know your budget I'm sure some of us will be able to assist you.
With your original question, if that particular sub is any good?
No, the voice coil is a 2.5 inch coil.... Even if since they "said" it was a four layer, the power handling would be no where near 3000RMS. If that coil was given a true 3k at 14v it would smoke in seconds. They also list that's it's a 340oz magnet. It's a double stacked mag so that means it's 170oz per ferrite slug. Yeah right, not with this woofer.
I would recommend looking at SKAR Audio, Sundown Audio, Soundqubed, or American Bass
