I really want to buy this game but I am just curious if it is a game that a lot of people will continue to play or if it will just die out in another year. I do not know to much about Destiny as I have only played it during beta.

Honestly, it really comes down to a main factor in my opinion. Do you have any friends that play the game?
Quite a few of the game modes you can play on destiny require other people, however, on certain game modes it doesn't use matchmaking which means you need to find a party before carrying out the game mode.
You could still have a lot of fun on your own and if you did need a party there are plenty of websites, including this one where you could go to find one. I just think from experience the game is a bit more enjoyable with friends playing along side you instead of people you are not familiar with
