Jeez. When I turned 15 (19 now) I got my permit shortly after my birthday and as soon as I got it, my dad threw me the keys to his car (SRT8 Charger) as we walked out of the DMV and said "Highway, now" It was the scariest moment of my life

Although, my mom was kind like that too. She rarely let me drive her car. My dad just forced me to drive

I'd understand if they didn't want you to drive on the road, but they could have simply had you practice in the parking lot. In my county, we still have blue laws, which close all stores on sundays. The DMV's closed course remained open to the public, for practice, every sunday. This helped a lot, but I'm not sure if the DMV by you offers an open practice course. Look into it; with the slow speed limit, it's nearly impossible to crash, plus it will prepare you for the final driving test, which will determine your result. Also look into driving schools, where you'll have an instructor helping you, in a modified vehicle, so the instructor will have a brake of his own. There are many ways to prepare. You should have been more pushy towards your parents.
