If you just want to browse the web, dl films and what not, and watch movies, use your money to build a cheap ITX rig or something.

Nice, compact internet machine;

No real need to spend any more than that. i3 with the iGPU will be fine for internet use and general usage.

Build your own PC, without a doubt.
If it's your first PC, wanting to keep it moderately cheap, I'd recommend a GTX750Ti Sclocked

For what you get when buying an iMac, you could buy a PC for about 600$ and get the same performance just without the operating system that apple uses. I just recently had this same question and many people answered with "build your own." I ended up building my own, which isn't hard at all, and I love it. I spent about the price of a simple iMac and get double the results! If you have any more questions, PM me and I would be more than happy to help you out. Hope this helped!

It's all well and good people posting here saying "You can double the performance" yeah, for gaming.... But what will you be doing with the PC?

If you want it for everyday stuff. i.e, web, movies, social media... You cannot get anything better than a Mac for that. Any one who says differently hasn't got a clue.

But you can't compare the 2. So before anyone can give you a recommendation, we need to know what it will be used for.
