i would rather have more storage then a mechianl keyboard. the headset is ok if you want a better one drop a ssd and get a better one. z97 may not be top of the line but its all he needs

Can you make a build that you think is better? Also I don't need a bunch of SSD's. I'd never use them. 16gb of ram is good though because I host minecraft servers sometimes

No need to spend anymore really. I'd be installing a custom loop in this thing though, it deserves it. If you're not gonna install a custom loop, grab a H110i GT for your CPU. Titan X is a ridiculously expensive card, but it will handle 4k with ease, and you can add another one in SLI if you ever need to. You don't even need to go with the i7, so you can save money and grab a 4690k if you wish. If you need another monitor, just grab a 1080p panel, something like this;

Since it's considerably under budget, you could get more storage. If you're interested in custom loops and are prepared to install one, you may want to spend more on a case, for a bit more room. You may even want to go with an X99 rig? It won't benefit you any in gaming though, so I assumed it wouldn't interest you.

Its a combination of what you recommended and what Zayev recommended. couldn't find the exact RAM he said but I think this is similar.

I have the 16GB because I host minecraft servers with friends sometimes and currently with 8gb I sometimes get an error saying I ran out of memory when multitasking.

What do you think of the idea of buying a second 970 with the money left over for my old PC that I will be keeping at my dads house? Current specs:

CPU: i7-4790k OC'd @ 4.7GHz or something like that
RAM: 8GB 2133MHz
GPU: GTX 970
Not sure about the rest
The cooling is just some garbage fans if that matters. I think there might be liquid cooling for the cpu.

I would say so, you can afford to do ao and having a 4K and 1440P side by side would look silly. Might as well get 2 4K screens. plus, having one for gaming and another for productivity gives you so much more monitor real estate it's crazeh.
