Gameplay

I have been playing this game for quite some time now and I do think this game is pretty good. In Banana Kong you play as a Gorilla who is trying to run from a huge pile of banana peels. You run, swing, and glide trying to dodge obstacles while also using your powers to get away from the on coming wave of bananas. This game is a 2d side scrolling endless running game and in my opinion isn't any different from the rest of the running games I have played and seen on the market place. As you run you will have to collect bananas in order to fill up your power dash bar. Once it is filled you can use it when there are hard objects in the way so you can bust through them. Certain areas will lead you to secret parts of the map when they are destroyed making it for a more intense game. While you play you are basically trying to get to the farthest distance without failing. Doing so will give you bananas at the end of the match which can be used towards purchasing stuff in the store. You can purchase hats, parachutes, power-ups, utilities, and super powers for your gorilla. Each of these purchasable items are costly so it is best to save up. Things like power-ups and utilities are incredibly useful if you want to survive for a long time. Revives can also be purchased so that when you die you can come back to life and carry on with the game. Every level you play is random so it never gets old and you can play his game for hours. Animals can be used to get around the terrain easier which I think is pretty cool. The soundtrack in this game is also very nice and fits with the look of the game as well. Overall, this is a good game, but I've seen pretty much many of these types of games and this game doesn't really add anything new to make it worth while in the long run.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are actually pretty nice looking. The game is viewed from third person and from the side. This 2d game adds enough depth into the levels that it's actually pretty fun to play. Most of the gameplay takes place in the jungle and the other areas can be found from climbing the trees or power dashing into a hole and falling into the middle of the earth. The animations on everything look very smooth and crisp while playing. When in the middle of the earth the level design changes into a rocky mysterious looking cave filled with lava and when in the trees you can see the mountains, clouds, and other scenery in the background which makes this game more fun to not only look at, but to play. There is tons of detail in the designs of the maps, characters, and power ups used. The game looks like a cartoon which I like a lot about it. Overall the graphics work quite well with the game and with the amount of detail put into the levels and other objects it looks even better.

Controls

The controls are simple to understand, but can be hard to use at times. As this game relies on staying focused you have to look around the whole level trying to find the next platform, rope, or animal to jump on. This can be intense at times as you could accidentally jump into the wrong area ultimately leading to your death. In order to jump you have to tap the screen. You can jump through platforms when they are above you which took me some time to get down. Tapping to jump and then holding the screen makes you glide which is good when you are jumping from high areas or trying to collect a long row of bananas. Swiping right can only be used when the power dash bar is filled. This can be used to get far from the wave of bananas or when you are trying to break through certain obstacles. You do not have to hold any button down to run as the gorilla runs by itself. I did have some problems with touch recognition at times as it wouldn't register my swipe, but it only happened to me a handful of times. Overall the controls are simple and easy enough for anyone to use them.
