You should take this into consideration, it's not completely Microsoft and Sony's fault. A DDoS attack cannot be prevented or stopped, they can only be mitigated. DDoS attacks aren't qualitatively distinguishable from a normal user.
Let's be completely honest, cloud hosting is still extremely expensive with that much data and while they are ramping it up... it's still not where it needs to be. Even then, DDoS attacks are still possible against cloud servers.

Oh, god. Here we go again with ANOTHER Lizard Squad rant...
Lizard Squad can't do shit and they are just a bunch of scrubby little script kiddies that think they are the worlds greatest group of hackers because they can DDoS XBL and PSN.
They are basically stopped now because people quit talking about them and quit fooling with them so they stopped making any form of money, so they quit too.
All you as a user have to do to get them to stop is to just ignore them. They will lose their popularity as well as the fear they created amongst gamers if you just ignore them...

I agree with what they did in terms of people shouldn't have been playing a game that day. They should have spent the day with their family or even like I did.

They are not hackers,
They can only DDoS
Hacking is completely different.
They are only DDoSing big companies because (imo) they are trying to promote their Stresser.

i personally like the fact they hacked the servers because it made everyone realize how poor security actually is from both Microsoft and Sony
