Having a dog is one of the greatest things ever, there are so much positives that come out of it and they are great company for when you are feeling down and in general they are intelligent and friendly animals. Since you've only had the dog for 6 days I assume you will still need to train it especially if it's a puppy therefore train your dog to stop barking and crying at night and tell it off if it is barking non-stop.

I wouldn't be to concerned about your sleep, I'm coming up to my GCSE's and currently doing some and my sleeping schedule is a train wreck but it's not effecting me to much. I also suggest you play music through headphones whilst doing revision or trying to concentrate on something or even if you are stressed because of the things at home since it will help you calm down and focus.

Mate its great you want to do your best in your GCSEs but in reality it won't take 4 months to get used to this dog. Of course its going to be like that, dogs get very unsettled in a new environment. Trust me I have two, but it'll be worth it.

I also don't want to take the emphasis away from your success in your GCSEs but having done them all before, and plenty of exams after - you will not suffer from being distracted four months prior. They are your first set of public exams and are designed to ease you in to the system. You will need to work, sure. But they aren't something you'll fail if you don't work 4 months before!

Really don't think you should get rid of the poor thing, just persevere, it'll all be over soon.

Sorry to hear this, I've had many experiences with dogs in my past. (Lots ). My best advice is just to stick with it, you may not like it at first. You have to teach it and train it, that's the responsibility's with owning an animal. To love it, take care of it and train it. Look up some guides etc and trust me, you'll get there. Life will be alot more easier, It shouldn't take to long to train, and then everything will be fine. Much love and good luck.

Rollins wrote I cannot take It anymore, 6 days ago we got a dog, blah blah, every morning I'm late for school, the house stinks of shit, my GCSEs are in 4 months, when I try and revise I hear barking or crying, I just don't know what to do? I go to sleep 40 mins after I go to bed since all I hear is her barking etc!!

I don't know what to do?

Late for school? Get ready earlier
House stinks of shit? Look after your damned house
Barking and crying? Dog needs care, attention and training

Basically look after the dog.
Late for school from walking the dog? get into a routine, it will increase yours and your dogs fitness and energy.
Teach the dog where to toilet and how to let you know. This stops it shitting in the house.
Barking and crying? Imagine someone didn't treat you right, would you be quiet?

This comes from owning plenty of dogs

The beans at the top claiming its his responsibility... He's doing his GCSE's, ergo he's 15/16... How is it his responsibility?

Such an ignorant post, you do realise the dog is a pup, they cry and bark for any reason. They don't instantaneously know when people are asleep and not asleep and they crave the human affection.

As for treating his house, how is he to remove the smell of shit when dogs regularly shit in the house until trained otherwise? This is a puppy not a 5 year old dog.

Thought you'd owned plenty of dogs, seems you're either lying or ignorant

I could argue...but I will just ask where he said he got a pup and not a dog.

He didn't, it's fairly obvious though. I'm willing to test this hypothesis.

@OP, is it a pup or a fully matured adult dog?

See I was going off the fact he said dog.
Either way my point still stands.
Its amazing how quick pups/dogs can learn.

Also - I don't actually want to turn this into an argument, was simply getting my views across

6 days is no where near enough for a dog to become comfortable in a new home with new people and surroundings, let alone be house trained if it's a puppy. Dogs bark, dogs cry, just like people do the same (not saying your family spends their nights crying and yelling.) Again, it's in a new environment it's going to take it more than 6 days to get used to things. Also, it's barking isn't that bad and don't say it is, I have 4, all hunting and guard dogs who will lose their shit if I drop a pencil on my desk, day and night, it's no different with them, annoying, yes, but it's livable. The dog is still getting use to everything around it, so barking, crying is bound to happen, it wants attention, whether it's a full grown dog or a puppy.

As for it going to the bathroom in the house, if it's a puppy, that's understandable, still needs to be trained and even then, a new home. If it's a full grown, that's on the previous owners as they didn't house train it and even then if they did house train it, the dog is still getting used to things. When it boils down to it, the dog is in a whole new environment, it has a lot to learn, a lot to get used to, expecting a dog to be ready within 6 days won't happen. Yeah I get it's annoying, believe me, I've been through it all, it's annoying as hell when things don't go your way, but you're going to have to stick it out a little longer than 6 days before you begin to "give up and not know what to do."

For your sleep, if you need, change your sleeping schedule or take sleeping aid to help sleep even with the dog barking or if for whatever reason you want to let the dog sleep in your room, go ahead and try that. I personally wouldn't let my dogs sleep in my room because of their fur but if your dog is out in the hall and crying/barking, it clearly wants attention from someone. You don't have to lock the dog in your room, can leave your door open so it can go in and out.
