ok so I took it apart (I've done this before so not my first time) and I was testing points on the main top board with a multimeter to try and find a good power point for a mod I plan on doing and as I was testing some of the points for the plug that goes into the back of it coz I thought that would be a good place to find a power point and all of a sudden the kinect turned off and my xbox one says plug in your kinect and the kinect is showing now signs of life
did I break it? or is there a fix

It shuts off on me all the time. Try and unplug the kinect from the back then plug it back in. Then unplug your xbox one power cord then plug it back in. If that doesn't work leave it (kinect) unplugged for a few hours then try again. If it still doesn't work yeah its possibly fried

already tried that but yh I'l leave it unplugged but I don't get how I could of fried it

LMFAO sorry I laughed while reading this whole post hope you didn't fry it man but just leave it unplugged for a bit my kinect turns off on me a lot but I just unplug it and plug it back and it works fine.

If everything else is working but the the kinect its probably an issue with the plug
