ive got a 6n2 Polo GTi highly recommend except for the shoddy gearboxes and there only ever been 3000 made 1000 in each red, black and silver 500 of each of the 1000 3 door and 5 door you get the point. for your fist car you need to think about insurance more then the car normally if youre insured by yourself its gonna cost more than your car. stick with a relativity small engine for the first year to get your no claims up and gradually get faster cars i started in a crappy little 206

best thing to do is go on gumtree or auto trader and find a car you like a lupo for example, type the number plate into a comparison website like confused.com and get a quote to see how much it would cost

also helll nawwww dont get a moped everybody will be laughing at you as you're going 30mph max speed its only a year bud and you get the real thing driving is so much better

Not entirely true. Insurance price seems to depend on where you live and if you have parents on your insurance. It was cheaper for me to insure a TDI for my first car than it was a MK4 1.4. Stupid I know

OP: Your best bet it so look for cars on say Gumtree & autotrader grab a couple number plates on cars that you either want or think that you could insure and hit up some comparison sites and see what's cheaper. You'll obviously have to doctor your details a little if you're not old enough to take your test.

Little tip if you're follow what I said above. Don't use a good email that you depend on as you'll get spammed with emails about how this is company is cheaper and how you can save money on it if you buy home insurance and all that jazz. Also don't use your correct phone number just change a few digits or like above you'll get random phone calls about insurance that you're not actually old enough to apply for.

As far as the whole scooter or car thing goes. take a look out your window.... chances are its either raining and the floors wet or its snowing. Driving a car in either conditions is sketchy but riding a bike in those is pretty much a death sentence. Depending on a bike for essential travel is something that should never be done as its so easy to fall off. Iv'e seen experienced riders of 20+ years lay a bike down due to a little driver fault and even if the road isn't perfect someone can send you flying.

Bikes are fine for Sunday drives when the weathers nice but I would NEVER have one as a everyday kinda thaaaang. But the choice is yours,. Good luck with what ever you decide to do!

There are many factors to look for
1) do you like the car
2) the spec
3) mileage and service history
4) can you afford to insure and run it
5) your postcode.
6) where you are going to leave it at night can affect the insurance dramatically.
7) black box if you want a sporty first car

These are my tips on buying first car anyway. Good luck.
And to be honest don't bother with a moped save your money for insurance and a car
