I Had a similar Agreement in my School District when i was in High School. Every Student 1st grade through 5th grade got Ipad Mini's. Students from 6th Grade to 12Th Grade got Ipad2

We got some sh*t Tablets and i hate using it so much for school work (at school) that i don't even charge it at home, i charge it at the school so their electricity gets wasted on a shit product

my school had these when i was in middle school at the time i thought it was really cool but looking back on it i think it was more of a distraction to us kids knowning that we can play games anytime during class even thought there is still a lot you can learn with them no im in highschool and we have ipads but it does not really matter to me because i use a macbook pro anyway because i got so used to having a computer with me in school
