Hey guys,
I'm thinking about getting into pc gaming. I am, however, on a $400 U.S dollar budget. Can anyone please do me the favor of showing me a build that will give me the most performance for that price. I don't need a monitor or a mouse, just a keyboard and the build.
Thanks in advance.

It'll do alright. Best you're going to get for your budget.

Well, I mean, Minecraft is easy to play, Skyrim is more demanding so it'll perform differently on both but it'll be able to play games on decent settings for a rig without a dedicated GPU.

Case is up to you, my taste may not be to your liking :p

It's already over budget without a case. G3258 is dual core, which unfortunately is becoming obsolete now. $55 for a 320GB HDD is ridiculous when a 1TB HDD is around $50. $145 for a 750Ti is stupid, R9 270's are around the same price, and better. PSU isn't very good.

I'd still need to put an OS on there, wouldn't I?

Linux is free. You can get Windows for free. Use YouTube/Google to find out how, it's easy enough and saves a bunch of money that is better spent on components.

Sigh. Don't spread false information. Yes, paying for an OS would put the build over budget, but no, he does not have to pay for an OS. The build you suggested was terrible, deal with it. Don't throw a hissy fit because I've explained why you're suggestion was bad, that's the entire point of these sections, otherwise people would waste money. I'm sure you'd rather users waste money with your builds for an ego boost, but I'd prefer users to get their moneys worth, that's why in this section, we help with PC builds and not pre-builts, so people can spend their money wisely and not waste it. Users in this section spend their real money, don't piss about and get butthurt because something you suggested isn't the best someone could get for their money.

You know, The reason why the word "torrent" has such a negative tone is because of people illegally spreading Software for free. If you feel like stealing from Microsoft then by all means go ahead and torrent Windows 8.1.

In no way did I spread "false information"

I only stated that getting Windows, legally, would cause you to go over budget.
