So in essence you're saying that it pisses you off that you get nothing in return for performing a voluntary service where nothing but a thank you should be expected in return?

Well if a menial virtual number on an internet site bothers you this much, life must really piss you off.

The most you should look to get is a thank you for anyone you helped out, that's the decent thing to do and is expected, anything else is a bonus. It's a number get over it. Sure more people should utilize the system more but is it worth making it look as though you're going to have a meltdown over something that only serves as self gratification? Nope, take it easy, don't let it bother you.

This has been an ongoing problem here on TTG where users are stingy about handing out rep and thanks or are just too lazy. Though, since the rules have been changed to allow users to ask for it now, users are starting to get back into the old site policy of ALWAYS repping and thanking if the topic or post was helpful.

Still trying to figure out how someone can be stingy with rep? If somebody thinks that graphics or a topic deserves rep then surely it is entirely up to them whether they rep or not. You make it sound that because the option is there we MUST take the time and decide after every post we read whether or not we should distribute a thanks to the topic or rep.

Do you walk down the street where you live for instance in some fine clothes and stop everyone and say "I have some nice swag you have to respect me" or maybe do you help an old lady across the street and demand that she thanks you. Or maybe when you do something good at work you go into your bosses office and demand recognition and a pat on the back for doing something you get paid for in the first place?

Stop getting hung up on rep it is a number and pixels on a website and in no way EVER will it affect the way people think about or act towards you. Reptrains etc made rep pointless and the ability to ask for thanks and rep has just pushed it further back in peoples minds . Go into the SB and wait for someone to throw rep at you if it bothers you that much on how much rep you have.

So he creates this topic whining about not getting rep like he's the only one. And people start giving him rep because they feel sorry for him. Doesn't that defeat the point of this rant?

You do know rep is just a number. It was meant to just be an appreciation token that people would voluntarily give it to you for being a good member. Now it's completely different, oh well Santa brought me what I wanted... or was it the sb rep fairy
