It reverses the hashes made when dumping it. Pretty much sums it up.

Basically the hypervisor is a security. The hypervisor checks parts of memory to generate a hash. If the hash is correct, it allows the boot load to go onto the next step. If the hash is incorrect, then the console will be read as modified which will be automatically detected when trying to connect to xbox live. That is why people talk about the "hv" when new dashboard versions are released.
