Oh man, prepare to leave your life behind hahaha. But Pokemon is such a great game you'll enjoy it. Since you haven't played it before I'd prefer if you played some of the older ones on a emulator on your computer because the new ones have gotten so complex imo..but if I had to recommend a new one, it'd be X/Y. I have Y. But my all time favorite is Pokemon emerald. Anyways, welcome to the pokemon world!

I'd suggest getting OR/AS. I prefer them to X/Y. I'm not really a fan of the Pokemons on X/Y.

First off, I prefer ORAS to X/Y, but they are both great imo.

For whatever game you pick, it may be beneficial to play alongside a play through/let's play on YouTube. At least until you get the basic things down.

The game can be played very simply, or you can get into the stats and everything and it will become much more complex.

Ok I guess it is another world, of Pokemon, you will choose a starter then you go out and you can capture pokemon, there is lots, you can level them up, level 100 is max. Pokemon will evolve once they hit a certain level. There is more to do than that but thats the main thing I did.
