I cant afford the next-gen consoles so should i just get a wii, i wanna play super smash bros melee and the older call of duty's and thats it.
Should i get one?

Seeming that they are quite cheap and you can get the games for next to nothing i don't see why not. It's a great console and i also suggest that you try some games outside of just smash brothers and the older call of duty games. An example being Super Mario Galaxy which is typically regarded as the best Wii game of all time

I do not recommend getting COD on the wii.

If you're only going to want to play a few games like the ones you listed (especially Super Smash Bros) than I'd recommend getting one.

Not only is that game extremely fun, but the console itself is not that expensive. Game will probably run you no more than $20.

Honestly the Wii is an amazing console once you dig through all the bad games. Some of my favorites are

Mario galaxy
Skyward sword
Just dance ( honestly it really is fun)
XenoBlade
Metroid Prime 3

I think you should, the Wii and the Wii U are both amazing consoles, especially if you love classic Nintendo games, you cant go wrong with one imo
