An extraordinary bright orange flash has lit up the sky in Russias Sverdlovsk region in the Urals. While locals captured the massive blast on numerous cameras, both scientists and emergency services still struggle to explain the unusual event.

Dark evening skies in the town of Rezh in Sverdlovsk region near Russia's Ekaterinburg turned bright orange for some ten seconds on November 14, with the event being caught on several cameras by the locals.

A driver filmed the massive flash with his dashcam, later posting the video on YouTube, with more people commenting theyve seen it too. Teenagers in the town of Rezh also filmed the phenomenon with a mobile phone.

According to E1.ru, the emergency officials suggested the military were behind the flash, as they might have had a scheduled explosive ordnance disposal procedure. The city administration has also said such ammunition disposal might have taken place, while the military themselves denied they were behind the mystery.

I probably would have been scared for my life if I saw this in person.

He beat me to it...

Maybe it was another meteor like the one that struck a year or so back?
They probably would've found it by this point if that were the case though.

A nuke. Maybe from very far away. This is just my guess as I dont know what else could cause that other than aliens.

Easily a nuke, granted, no where close, but even if it was a nuke testing, shows enough from the light alone. If it were to be a nuke testing, I'd very much imagine it would be their new R-36M/SS-18 Satan Nuke they're to be expecting to have in their arsenal by 2015/2016.

As for it being a meteorite, I highly doubt it. They would have surely found something by now or it would have caused some noise, possibly even some damage like the one last year did.
