I Got the legendary sparrow from the vault of glass.
Can I use the upgrade from xur to make it exotic?
Just need some answers because my friends keep telling me it will.
Any answers are appreciated.

No, those upgrades are only for rare sparrows. Your friends are just messing with you.

One quick question regarding sparrow. I have already bought a rare vanguard sparrow with the xur upgrade. If I was to buy a crucible sparrow would I need to purchase another upgrade from xur or does it transfer?

You need to purchase another upgrade, because when you use it, your rare sparrow turns Legendary and the upgrade disappears from your inventory.
