i am thinking of giving my mate my account for licence transfer does it work??

Yes he will need to sign into your account and then do the license transfer then go into your download history and download your DLC

After that he will be able to play the dlc with any account under his xbox 360

It's once every 4 months, so you get to do it 3 times a year. (I just now tested it out on an accident)

You could License Transfer pretty much anything except for some Season passes, you just have to download the actual DLC packs then they will work.
