When starting Madden Ultimate Team you are asked if you want your team to be an offensive based team with either the Long Pass (LP), Short Pass (SP), Ground & Pound (GP) or Speed Rush (SR) but you can also choose from a selection of defense styles these are Pass Rush (PR), Man Defense (MD), Zone Defense (ZD) or Run Stuff (RS). The most popular ones are Short Pass because you get a 71 Manziel but Long Pass and Man Defense are also good choices. After choosing your teams style you're prompted with the ability to complete a Objective, Do this quickly because it's easy coin and a good start to a badge collection. We will talk about badges later but for now you are done the initiation.

With Solo Seasons or Challenges you can earn coins, badges and a bunch of players. In order to start a season you need to complete the teams Training Camp game this game awards you the ability to play the teams season in the seasons category and will give you the coach to the team you can either quick sell this or add him to a set, Adding him to a set is better then quick selling. With the complete set you get a badge pack which once again we'll cover later. Sets are a easy way to earn badges and coins quickly. Also if you have free time check out the skills trainer by completely a series of these skills you get a free Gatorade Power Pack these typically contain 1-2 Golds and some silvers or badges you can get 4 of these and a couple achievements along the way

Sets are basically a collection of cards, collectibles, badges etc. Once the collection is complete you usually get anything ranging from either 500-1 Million Coins and a badge pack. These things are going to be your year so get used to them, Not using them will seriously impact your coin count throughout the year. If you collect 5 Elite badges which are rather expensive but some what common in badge packs, You will get a pack with a guaranteed Elite card which dramatically increases your teams overall rating and if they fit your style your style will increase greatly aswell. If you collect a certain amount of cards and badges you will be granted a 99 OVR Sherman and 1 Million coins. So start saving up.

So the regular standard packs are nothing special these Packs give you the following

Pro Packs 7,500 Coin (+4 Team Items, +3 Bronze Players, +2 Silver Players and +1 Gold or Better)
Gold Packs 75,000 Coin (+5 Gold or better players, +5 Silver Players)
Rookie Packs 2,500 Coin (+5 Bronze or Silver Rookies)

But about every 5-7 Days there are limited time offer packs, Now don't let the name fool you these packs are limited but they'll come back sometime around next month so instead of dumping money early save and save so you can get the max value out of them some of the limited offer packs and there contents

Legendary Pack 50,000 Coin/450 Points (+1 Or more legends, +3 Gold And +3 Collectibles presumably legendary)

All-Madden Pack 35,000/350 Points (+5 Gold or better, +5 Other random items) (Added 9-9-14)

Game Changer Pack 70,000 Coin/1,000 Points (+10 Gold or Elite and +4 Team items)

Cards have 4 different rarity's which are easily spotted. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Elite each come with there own player ratings Bronze 60-65, Silver 65-70, Gold 70-85 and Elite 85-99. Now when you get enough cards you'll notice your team OVR (Overall) Will increase this is the average rating for your players for example mine is 86 because I have a lot of elites and high ranking Golds, Better the OVR the more seasoned and skilled players you'll meet in head-2-head. And at 85 OVR You can choose another team style for extra challenges in the styles section.

Sometimes in MUT you're not gonna have a really good disposable income but you still want to improve your team, That's where budget players come in. Budget players are basically good players that go for little compared to other players in the same league for example say you want DeMarco Murray but don't know which card has more value his elite football outsiders or his regular gold card to narrow down this choice we can see [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] other than his awareness you aren't really getting much value from his elite card which goes for 40,000-50,000 more then his gold card so in this situation you'd go for his gold card. But it's not always as easy as choosing a players alternate card maybe there is only 1 card for this player, That's where [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] comes in.
