That isn't necessarily what he meant, But like Casca said, they felt "threatened" and I think it by putting 9 bullets in him it wasn't needed.

In the heat of the moment decisions have to be made quick. I feel the cops made the right choice as one of them could have been killed by the man with the knife. Put yourself in the cops shoes. You see a guy coming at you with a knife, how would you react? It doesn't matter that he stole sodas or not. When he came at the cops with the knife they did what they had to do. Either way maybe he didn't need to be shot 9 times, but he threatened the cops and they did what they had to do..

They should be trained to take down a guy that has a knife with non-lethal force. I can see a civilian doing what the cops did, but cops aren't just your average civilian. They are trained, unlike most civilians. If their training to is to tase 9 year olds and to shoot and kill slightly armed individuals, I am actually terrified of this country and where it could go if not stopped.
