A Google Chrome extension has recently gotten my attention: Adblock

What are your opinions on it?

I do not like it because it is used wildly on YouTube and it blocks revenue for smaller Channels. I think it is good for sites that have crazy amounts of pop-up ads including ones that redirect your page. But, for YouTube which typically has one ad that plays before the video, which you can skip after 5 seconds, it is just annoying and blocks revenue for content creators.

I love it, but on sites I respect and like and yt i like I will turn it off for them.

It is a very useful plugin to have installed. It does save a lot of time when watching videos.

However, for sites such as TheTechGame, I turn it off.

I disabled to for YouTube. If you like popular YouTubers, You are depriving them of the ad revenue that they work hard for. You sit though a 15 second ad or skip it after 5 seconds. It's not a big deal.

I use it on many sites, but on the pages that I want to support, I will just whitelist them. I do that with TTG and many Twitch streams.

I use it (almost) everywhere. Most of the sites I visit make enough money anyways, and none of them will be impacted by me taking off AdBlock because I don't click ads, and one person doesn't make a difference in terms of ad revenue.

Same logic applies to YouTubers. I assume if you're making a living off of YouTube, you've decided that it's enough for you to live on. And again, I alone won't make a difference.

Ads are really annoying anyways, especially pop-up and banner ads. I don't think I could actually browse the web without it, for me it is a must-have extension.

The main reason I got adblock plus is because I use movie streaming sites a lot and when watching a movie/tv show there is always some annoying ads but with abp they no longer pop up. I think its a very helpful extension
