That's like saying you shouldn't care that your mother died when people die everyday. You only care about a death if it relates to you. If you can see it or experience it, then you would compassion towards it. Many people knew Robert Williams through his movies. Very little people know African children which is why one would be more moved by a celebrity death than an African child's death.

Depends on the celebrity.. People like "Paris Hilton" or "Kim Kardashian , I could care less about if they died. - If I liked the celebrity aka say.. "Bruce Willis" <-- He's one of my favourite actors. If he died It'd affect me cause I've been watching him for years. Tho seriously you don't know either the dying African kids nor the celebrities in real life tho..
Seriously why bother? it's like saying who do you care more about "Your family dying or a few kids you don't know.."

I see where you are coming from, but here is my stand point on it.

When famous celebrities pass away, there is generally a lot of media attention about it because these people touched the lives of millions of people. You almost feel like you know the person, and this is why I feel there is a lot of attention for celebrities.

As for kids who die in africa, Its not as personal for them to have world wide media attention as nobody knew who they were or had some sort of connection if any at all to the person. I know it sounds bad but thats just how life is.

We feel worse about the stuff that we are directly related to, as appose to just hearing about someone who you have never heard of before.

-Nebula wrote I understand how you feel. I can't believe some people are just so arrogant to do such a thing to the poor kids in Africa.

What?? Seriously??? Nobody is doing anything to the kids in Africa. They don't get individual world wide attention, but thats because nobody knows who they are.

People are so dumb. Once they stop living off their parents and grow up I'm sure they will realize what is more important. It is so sad to see people make that decision. What has humanity come to? It upsets me dearly that anyone would put African kids before dead celebrities *plot twist*

People(myself included)Grew attached to him and his work. All his movies were a piece of comedic art. He has a special talent, he is genuinely funny. The news inst going to cover African children every day of the week for a whole year. His death touched alot of people thats all man. African children shouldnt even be compared to him. Cause he would go on medical missions to Africa.

"...but people cry for one person and mourn him but no one cares that hundreds if not thousand of kids die everyday in Africa of a slow and painful death."
You got to be kidding me right? Yes we do care as people if other people die. You might see the news and say why cover Robin Williams and not the Kids. Well first off Robin Williams affected many people like me because he was an Inspiration. Who says we don't care about children in Africa? If we didn't care then we wouldn't donate money to try to help. It isn't our fault that they live in such terrible environment. We can only do so much to help them while taking care of ourselves.

Not many people have been to Africa to see what its actually like. Im not one of them people, in fact, ive been twice. So here's what I think

The UK gives so much money to Africa its unreal. We have Charity's, national days and so on to give help to Africa.

What ive relised: No amount of money can fix the African government.

In the mean time, they are very happy people. They are incredibly kind and say hello to you all the time.

It's funny how people also say "He's in a better place now". No, he's not. Suicide is a sin (if you're religious). And if you're not religious, than their is no such thing as a "better place".
