This is normally why I listen to music on public transport so it doesn't bother me.

Lol. You can almost guarantee you were that kid at some point.
Also by giving the child attention when they're having a tantrum only reinforces their behavior. They will then learn that all they have to do is have a tantrum to get their own way. These parents most likely don't want to set a precedence for raising their child poorly.
