JTAGs and RGHs do the same thing, run unsigned code.
The difference is just availability and boot times. RGHs are becoming more and more popular because it is able to be do on most consoles
JTAGs boot instantly and RGHs can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes or longer.
Boot time depends on the RGH used (RGH1 or RGH2)

And the skill of the modder who does the install and tuning.

Rgh 1 is better then 2. So if I got an Xeon what would it be like would be slow?

That also is a very big factor.

Buy a Jtag Xexon. RGH xexons can take hours to boot. Buy a falcon RGH for hosting online or a jasper RGH for system link only.

Keep in mind all games PAST MW2 need to be hosted online and can not be done via system link.

I'm sorry, but that is just bad advice (at least for the reason listed).

Any RGH, JTAG, RGH2, or RJTAG console can all accomplish the same things. They all run unsigned code. They all boot Xell. ANY of them can do anything the others can do.

-Xenon JTAGs are good because they are a cheap (~$100 shipped) way to get started learning. The downside is that the Xenon has a very high RROD failure rate.
-Xenon's cannot be RGH'd with ANY reliability (literally 24 hour boot times) so stay FAR FAR away from a Xenon RGH.

-Any other phat RGH1 (Opus, Zephyr, Falcon, Jasper) is going to have very solid boot times if it was done by a decent modder. Go for the newest console you can afford as the newer they are the more RROD proof they are.

-Phat RGH2's are largely dependent on the skill of the modder that installed them. Stay away from Zephyr RGH2's as they have a terrible rep even from the best modders. Any other RGH2 such as a Falcon or Jasper is going to be highly dependent on who modded it and how much time went into tuning the install. Make sure to get video proof of repeated boots to show their boot times.

-Slim RGH2's. First off, there is no such thing as a Slim RGH1, it just doesn't exist. All slims ever are RGH2. period. For long term reliability you can't beat a slim. Boot times are generally good but can be dependent on who did the install. Get video proof.

Im speaking in terms of changing a Jasper's KV which is more difficult to do. Not run unsigned codes in general.
