The British government has now decided to decriminialise the piracy of films, music and games meaning that users caught downloading and sharing pirated material will no longer be fined or prosecuted.

Starting in 2015, those caught pirating material online will receive four letters telling the individual that they have committed an illegal offence.and, well thats it.

Seen this on the news a few days ago. It's pretty good but also pretty stupid. Four letters without any further action is a bit pointless.

I always "pirate" things, if I enjoy the movie or game or whatever I buy it. But if it wasn't worth the harddrive room, I ignore it for the rest of its days.
Sometimes having a hard copy of something is good. ^_^

Nope, you're probably thinking of MegaUpload. That was awhile ago.

@OP this, in my opinion, is a GREAT thing. Music, software, etc. shouldn't be for the money. It should all be free. Back when music was dirt cheap and people did it for the fame, not the fortune, (for example), was when music was it's best.

I hope this happens in America too. It's not like they're even really able to enforce it to begin with.

A warning system that warns you that you will get another letter if you continue but will not go to jail or pay a fine. BRILLIANT WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THAT.
