I'm seeing gold everywhere but I don't exactly know what it is...

You have to buy it. You get to change your name and add color. You also get access to some forums. Can't say more than that.

You can buy it for $5.97 and unlock more privileges and features such as a secret Gold member (only) forum, change your username, Custom username colour, Gold Member badge and much more.

If your a console gamer then you'll understand these:
It's basically Xbox live on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Plus on the Ps3. By this I mean, you have to pay for exclusive things like a colored name along with the badge Gold Member. More info is given at this page: Premium.html
