Their work was of a completely different standard than is expected or appreciated on this site.

Why post if you require no feedback or dont wanna show it off :S

By this, I assume (and hope) you mean that their work was too high a standard to be recognised as being good on the forum - and I have to agree with that.

I often think that good and talented artwork doesn't get enough credit on TheTechGame, compared the the 'YouTube GFX', which 9 times out of 10 lacks skill, quality and originality. It has always appeared to be more popular in this forum - probably because the forum is orientated toward the gaming community rather than the art community. Personally, i'd post my work somewhere else, but I can't find anywhere else online where I can get my work viewed and receive the same helpful feedback from a small number of you on this site.

Of course I meant a much higher standard.

If you cannot find anywhere to upload your work to get critique you are not looking hard enough.

There are a few people on here that can create, appreciate and critique in a mature fashion.
On a site that claims 1.5 million members a few is not enough.

Due to the nature of the site, the content you mention, youtube backgrounds and such, "amateur" work will always get more of a response.

Due to this fact we have lost some talented members. Which is better for those members in the long run.
Instead of being told "awesome 10/10" etc, they can move on to more suited websites where they will get better critics and standards are much much higher, therefore pushing them to excel in their fields.

From what I seen from all the former kings they were all rated by the site and always got the attention on the forums.

To be fair i didn't see people criticizing a lot but they got the ego boost and comments.

What is the specific message behind this design? Is it about Kings in general or something more definitive?

I Believe it is related to those who were Graphics Kings and have had their input stamped out by some people on the site.

I have looked for other places to share my work - the two main graphics sites (which i'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention, so I wont) are too big and vast. Anything that I post on there usually just gets ignored, as work is posted by the community literally every few seconds. I'll get the odd 'appreciation' (like) every now and then, but no feedback to help me improve. On this site the graphics community is so small that my work doesn't get buried and forgotten after 10 seconds, but I don't get enough feedback. As you say, there are small handful of mature users that actually give constructive criticism, but I can't seem to find that 'middle ground' where I get a larger number of experienced designers giving me feedback.

I think people are criticising on this harshly. Firstly even the simplest of designs such as "Words on a background" can be a great design.

The design is about the message in this so i think people commenting on the fact that its so simple is stupid.

Anyway, very good Illustrated Don't see much work around here carrying a strong message.

When he says "kings" I think he is referring to the people who have the titles that have king it in such as Download King and Graphics King

Close, but no cigar. Almost there...
