That is an extremely great idea, but the price to replace every road, driveway, pavements etc? Wow, big big numbers...

This would literally take multiple decades to complete and not to mention that you'd have to get the permission from each individual city, business owner, etc. to do it.

Seems to be a pretty cool concept, but as the replies above me have made clear, it takes time and money. It takes lots of time and money that may or may not pay off. To big of a risk if you ask me :coffee:

It's an absolutely phenomenal idea, but it was mentioned before that there are a ton of literal and figurative roadblocks making this an incredibly long process.

There are so many problems with this invention. This is a great idea but it will never be put into effect into our everyday lives.

I REALLY like this idea, glad to see something new coming into place to save money.

It's a good idea but probably very difficult to make it happen. Solar pannels are far too smooth for a road surface and the smallest amount of rain on them would cause carnage. Same goes for on sidewalks, if it rains and you walk on it then you're likely to slip over.

Really great idea, all the problems this would solve and they will actually pay for themselves. The only thing is it would take them 10s or possibly 100s of years to lay all these down as they would have close all major motorways/highways which would be a problem for commuters and would affect the economy.

Please, please read the post or actually watch the video...
They're not just straight up solar panels, they're topped with two layers of protective material, which is textured and stronger than normal asphalt.

Don't make an ass of yourself, read the post before you post!

The jobs that would need to be created to mass produce the tiles, as well as install them on the roads would be a immensely beneficial for the economy. The only downside is the eventual downfall 50-60 years later when all the roads have been replaced and the production/installment jobs are mostly gone.

However, IMO i think it should be tested out first with a few cities, like they're doing now; and just wait to see how it goes. It they pay for themselves and prove to be useful, then why not implement a plan to start mass producing them and installing them around?
