Very nice piece of illustration. I would prefer a bit more contrast and depth though.

I'm not a fan of much contrast. As it is, I think its already got too much.
Most of my designs are pretty subtle.

No I do not generally record when I work on designs.

I found the name of the specific camo pattern,
Found an HD image of just the pattern on Google,
Put it in Photoshop, and used the square shape tool over it to accurately replicate it.
