So earlier today I was going through some posts in the conspiracy forum. And some of the topics are strictly asking for your opinion on the topic. And posts are getting thumbs downs (or voted down whatever) when the poster is just responding to the topic. Stating their opinion. I just don't understand what the point of doing that is. So if someone could explain that to me I would appreciate it. Thanks

I find it to be really annoying to, my posts in the rant get thumbs down alot for some reason. Its my opinion and what I believe, so why thumb it down?

Ill probably get a thumbs down on this post.

You get a thumbs up from me

OP: I have seen this a lot around the Rant forums. It seems that people can't take opinions without being offended.

Yeah I agree 100%.

I've had someone go through around 50 of my posts in the past hour or so downvoting each one. Slightly weird behaviour

Whatever though there's no such thing as bad press

If you get downvoted by stating your opinion, it means that the majority of people don't like your opinion.

The downvote button really doesn't mean anything special, and it doesn't mean that someone is offended by your post. All it is saying is that someone doesn't agree with what you're saying.

If you let it bother you then they are getting what they want.

I am past the stage of caring.
Was just talking with another member about the same thing.

If you get 1 possibly 2 thumbs then ignore it as someone just dislikes you.
Over that and you may have a bad post.

Just think about the positive posts (thumbs up) they actually mean something cos no one is gonna go round and thumb up all your posts

I saw people just down my posts because they thought my opinion wasn't right. Like what are you to say about my opinion? Honestly. Thank you for making this topic, hopefully it can change some people's minds about being retarded.

I guess so. I spend most of my time on the forums in the rant and conspiracy forums. And like you said I guess they just get offended.

Personally, i believe social media sites, such as

youtube have us inclined to think that a thumbs down,

or in this case an arrow down, lets one know that they

did not approve of a certain topic or content itself.

However, on TTG, many users do not realize that there

is no like or dislike button; if one hovers over the

arrow it should say useful or not useful.

Thus, i believe opinions should be expressed via

comment or PM

According to the forum tab on your account a downvote is considered an unuseful post. So by someone stating their opinion on posts asking for opinions, is considered unuseful?

Asymmetrical im right with you there. It doesn't bother me when people down vote my post because I don't care. I was saying I don't understand why people do it when people state their opinions.
