A Washington teenager was on the phone with her mother as she hiked alone on a mountain in Alaska, saying she was nervous about the slippery terrain before her mother heard a scream, and then silence. The 18-year-old had fallen 30 feet from a cliff.

The teen said that before her rescue, she believed she was staring death in the face and thought about everything she would miss in her life.

Cell phones cause many deaths, mostly all from car accidents. Now it seems they are trying to cause more deaths. This girl got lucky. If I were her I wouldn't know what to do with myself afterwards, id be so terrified of what if and what could have happened. Sometimes people need to know when to put their phones away.

I don't see where talking on the phone had anything to do with this. She was on slippery rocks. With or without the phone call, she most likely would have slipped. Who knows? Maybe that phone call saved her or got her rescued sooner. Either way, it's still terrible that it happened to her. Maybe she should take someone next time or be a little more careful.

in effect her phone did save her... the fact that she got the chance to speak to her mum before she slipped.

who knows what could have happened if she didn't alert anybody.
