Beliefs & Effects of Video Games on People
The effect of video games on the brain is a research area gaining popularity as the percentage of children and adults who play video games is on the rise. Some people believe violence in video games and in other media promotes violent behavior among viewers. While there is not sufficient data to validate this claim, there are a number of studies showing that video games can increase aggressive behavior and emotional outbursts, and decrease inhibitions. From a few of these studies, and from my own observations of children playing video games, it is quite obvious that the video games do have at least some effect on the behavior of the player. The extent and long range consequences of these behavior changes after one has turned off the video game are not so easily deduced. One source states that "While research on video games and aggressive behavior must be considered preliminary, it may be reasonably inferred from the more than 1,000 reports and studies on television violence that video game violence may also contribute to aggressive behavior and desensitization to violence"(1)Another study reports that "Hostility was increased both in subjects playing a highly aggressive video game and those playing a mildly aggressive video game. Subjects who had played the high-aggression game were significantly more anxious than others.

People all talk about engaging your brain on video games, which is true, but youre leaving out the part about radiation. Cellular devices and video games can cause brain cells to be damaged or killed. Another thing about video games is that if you take an MRI of a brain while playing video games, the only stimulated part of the brain is the part of it used for addiction and drug use, you can look it up if you don't believe me. That is why video games are so addicting. They aren't just fun, but they control you. Sorry to be kind of the party pooper.

Do Video Games Kill Brain Cells
What video games do is entertain you and expand your levels of imagination and creativity. But the people who plays hours and hours upon end, usually have something going wrong. Because then there imagination starts to take over reality and then they lose control. They minorly damage your brain, but mainly your eyes.
The light video game's emit can cause seizures and over long-periods of playing it, eye sore or reduced eye-sight. If you think about it, brain cells don't die when the brain is dormant, as in not thinking when playing video games. Of course the brain isn't dormant when playing video games, in fact it is very active(solving puzzles, thinking strategically, ect...) which excludes that as an excuse. Also the light emitted from the TV or monitor will not damage or kill brain cells either. The chance of it damaging your eyes is very slim some say.

Pros & Cons of Video Games
Pros- Entertainment, A happy place, Keeps you busy, Hand/Eye Coordination.
Cons- Addictions, Kills brain Cells, Can make you crazy, Damage the mind, Unhealthy.

Video Games Killing Kids?!?!
An investigation into the case revealed that the boy had used his cell phone numerous times, sending complaints about the his parents' decision to his friends. He even hinted at the suicide by texting, "Tomorrow is my last day."
His friends told police that the boy arrived at school normally, like any other day. But after putting his bag down at his desk, he went up to the sixth floor with a "grim" expression. And we all know what happened next. What caused this kid to do this was his parents taking his video games away from him, which eventually drove him to the edge.smh There are countless amounts of deaths caused by video games, this is just one of the many!

Addiction of Video Games
Anyone who has experienced it knows all too well video game addiction is real. Although gaming addiction is not yet officially recognized as a diagnosable disorder by the American Medical Association, there is increasing evidence that people of all ages, especially teens and pre-teens, are facing very real, sometimes severe consequences associated with compulsive use of video and computer games.
Video games are becoming increasingly complex, detailed, and compelling to a growing international audience of players. With better graphics, more realistic characters, and greater strategic challenges, its not surprising that some teens would rather play the latest video game than hang out with friends, play sports, or even watch television.Of course, all gamers are not addicts many teens can play video games a few hours a week, successfully balancing school activities, grades, friends, and family obligations. But for some, gaming has become an uncontrollable compulsion. Studies estimate that 10 percent to 15 percent of gamers exhibit signs that meet the World Health Organizations criteria for addiction. Just like gambling and other compulsive behaviors, teens can become so enthralled in the fantasy world of gaming that they neglect their family, friends, work, and school.

My Take on the Subject
I beliebe that video games do kill brain cells & enhances them in goid ways depending on how much you play them, what you play, and your mindset when playing. They are definently addicting to me and my friends. When I lose my games I get irritated. Video games do increase you Hand/Eye Coordination and makes your real lifw IQ and reaction time increase highly, at least in my experience. I do think they are bad to ay too much but im always going to enjot them.

I'd say neither personally. If you look at most of the people that go on shooting sprees they grew up in a low-income household that could not afford any sort of video games. But their are still those that aren't like that. I'd honestly say it's more healthy if I had to choose though. It can strengthen your mind so you can solve things faster, improve your hand eye coordination, improves your eyes to an extent, and several other things. Anyone that says video games are bad for you are ignorant.

You said it yourself, there isn't sufficient data to validate the claim of video games promoting violent behaviour.

I hate it when people use the line "you can look it up if you don't believe me". Why should I have to look up the source to something that you stated? You're trying to prove something here, so you should have sources to back your statements up.

Airy wrote Cons- Addictions, Kills brain Cells, Can make you crazy, Damage the mind, Unhealthy.

Honestly, you can get addicted to almost anything, especially anything related to technology. It is up to the parent to monitor their kid's video game usage, or if the kid is old enough, he/she can determine when they have played enough.

The opinion of video games killing brain cells isn't backed up by any facts, neither is your opinion of video games making you crazy or damaging the mind.

Airy wrote What caused this kid to do this was his parents taking his video games away from him, which eventually drove him to the edge.smh There are countless amounts of deaths caused by video games, this is just one of the many!

This death isn't caused by video games, it's caused by the kid being mentally unstable, something that should have been detected long ago. If a murderer or a criminal plays video games, the media always says that video games is the cause, but in actuality, the cause is them having mental issues and those issues being ignored and not realized by those around them.

I'd have to say that they are both good and bad for your health, and the only reason they could be bad in my opinion is that sometimes they make you want to drop other more important things that should have a higher priorities *cough* like work. Lol called out a couple of times when I couldn't put the controller down.

I believe that too much video game playing is mentally bad for you. I gave myself PTSD by playing too much COD. Now I have to take meds to keep me relaxed. So yes it can damage your brain.
