Ermahgerd, Chromebooks suck. If you are willing to build, you could easily throw together a cheap, budget build solely for web-browsing.

It's 2014, 2GB RAM isn't going to cut it, it was barely enough in 2011. I amen't saying he needs a 4GHz CPU? Simply stating that 2GB RAM isn't going to cut it, 4GB would be beneficial. As well as the fact that 16GB of storage is nothing. My gran uses more than 16GB of storage. OP would be much better keeping the money and throwing it into a cheap build instead of purchasing a Chromebook.

I love my chromebook. External HDDs are cheap. The OP is using it for web browsing solely. So, 2gb ram should run chrome, bro.

You say AMD is dead, IM me, i wanna hear an explaination. Im curious, really. I love my FX

AMD aren't dead, their FX series of CPU's are. They are still fine CPU's but I wouldn't recommend them anymore. External HDD's aren't that cheap, considering the price he will be paying for the Chromebook to begin with. 2GB RAM is borderline, it would work(obviously) but 4GB would be beneficial.

OP-If you're willing to build, get this;

It's a desktop which you were wanting, the i3 CPU will blow Chromebooks out of the water. It actually has enough storage for whatever you will be doing and 4GB RAM(beneficial as stated before). No need for a dedicated GPU for web-browsing only. Intel's integrated graphics will be fine for you. If you decide for dedicated graphiocs later on(for slight gaming), the PSU is still good enough. You could maybe throw in a GTX 750 Ti at a later date, if wanted/required.

Can I just add that it is a Chromebook. THE MOST resource heavy browser out there and has 2GB RAM, I agree with Sanctorum, 4GB RAM would be better.
