Article's Description

The Los Angeles Police Department is currently testing body-mounted cameras that record officers' interactions with citizens. The New York Police Department says it's reviewing the technology.
Rialto, with a population of 100,000 and a police force of 115 officers, began experimenting with wearable cameras in 2012. The results, Farrar says, were stunning: a plunge in incidents involving use of force, from 60 in 2011 to 25 the following year. Complaints from citizens dropped from 28 to three, with just four in the past twelve months.

Effects On Us

In the article, they clearly state that they are trying to do this so that they can see what actually happens when a police officer interacts with a citizen. This can be useful, yet it can be dangerous or a waste of money. Why?
Reasons why it would be useful include: Actually see what happened, knowing if the citizen resisted or not, violence, police officer's actions, and other things around those lines.
Reasons why it could be a waste of time include: invasion of privacy, people could possibly sue the police for this, the camera could break, it could be night time, the quality might be bad because it is a pair of glasses, and so on wit more things along those lines

My Opinion On This

I personally think this is a waste of time, though it could be used for evidence and more information on what happened, it is a waste of money. To me, why should cops need to have a camera on their head? They had to take an oath to tell the truth and to be completely honest with any of the cases that they have to do. So why do we need the camera? Cops can also abuse this power and use force on the citizen when it is not needed. Also, another thing, why would you want to look through all the footage and everything on the camera? It seems like the chief would just be sitting there in an office looking through the footage. So why do this?

The reason I shared this with you is because you never know what cops are trying to do to the citizens and you never know when your being watched...

I would agree with this. Although there are some good cops, but VERY FEW.

Honestly I disagree with this. Police are out there to protect us. Yeah sure they might not be the best person to talk to and some are a little bit corrupted. But I'd rather have them than no police at all.

But anyway I don't think Police actually need to have cameras. It might improve their behavior around people. But I don't think its needed.

Them having cameras invades privacy though because what if it is a domestic disturbance and its about a personal issue. The camera would catch it all

The cops are finding trouble because they have no other thing to do in their lifes. Police gets us into trouble by nature getting into trouble ourselves. lol

I read about this at the end of last year. I don't see the problem with it, the camera will be used to help solve cases quicker for one. I don't know how people can call police pigs etc in this post, sure there are some really corrupt cops out there... we've seen the brutality of some of them. But that is the small percentage, most of them are just doing their job and that is to protect the people.

I like the idea personally.

You can't be more ignorant than saying "Cops are bad and noobs and suck"
These men and women give up their lives to protect you. I think of Cops in a way kinda like out military. There not the same but there risking their lives to protect you. Not to harm you. If you do something against the law and you get caught, how can you be mad at a cop? YOURSELF broke the law and your getting mad at someone who punished you for it? LOL. Im pretty sure the kids that are talking down on cops have gotten in trouble with them more than once.
