What do you guys think about the escape? Do you think they really survived or do you think their raft got destroyed and they ended up drowning?

I think they survived. I just watched the documentary and the 4th guy got the letter saying "haha we made it" right? and they also said they never found the bodies which leaves me to believe that they either survived the escape, or their bodies just floated of into the sea or something. What are you guys' thoughts?

The only reason the FBI thinks that they didn't make it is because they found life vests and personal items in the river and no crimes were committed in the area, and no vehicles were stolen after the immediate escape.

Considering that Frank Morris, the mastermind of the escape, was something of a genius, even with the misconstrued meaning that word now holds, I think it's highly unlikely that he wouldn't leave any personal items in the river to throw the FBI off the trail, and he would know not to commit any crimes because that would lead the FBI right to him.
Plus, he wouldn't have needed to steal a vehicle if he had someone waiting there for them.

There was also the report of an oar being found perched up against a rock across from Alcatraz, but of course the FBI dismissed it.
Alcatraz had an inescapable record, the FBI wouldn't want that tarnished, so why would they admit that three men managed to escape?

I think they did escape.

I thought they were not allowed visitors, so how could that be possible?

Apparently they were allowed visitors, but they had to talk via intercom.
The conversations were monitored but a Captain there said they didn't have time to monitor every one.
It could be that Frank arranged it through this, or there may have been other ways for prisoners to get messages out.
