I guess its not really a conspiracy but I'm being haunted by this thought. So I recently started working at this place called B.I. It's like a hospital for people who are disabled. Like mentally retarded (not an insane asylum). There are 2 clients there that are mentally handicapped (mentally retarded) but they're living in an illusion that they're completely normal and hate being around the other patients. How do we know that we're not all mentally retarded and living an illusion that we're "Normal" and how do we know what "Normal" is?

"Normal" is the standard set by society of behaviour that we see as acceptable, and expected.
If everyone was actually Mentally ill and just thought that they were normal there would be no way of knowing that mental illness existed because you can only be what you are perceived to be, even by yourself.
However, mental illness is a very iffy topic for me because you can just about diagnose yourself with anything, or be diagnosed with just about anything.
There was a story about a man who faked being mentally ill so well after committing a crime that they sent him to Broadmoor.
While there he stayed in his room to avoid being around the serial killers, making the psychologists think he was a psychopath because of grandiosity and lack of empathy for others.
They said that because he faked mental illness, it shows that he is psychopathic in nature because he tried to be manipulative.
Faking mental illness is evidence of mental illness apparently.
