Because the way Mata played doesn't fit the style of play Mourinho is introducing to the club. He had no interest in back tracking to defend, so therefore preferred Hazard, Oscar and Willian over him.

The clubs have agreed a fee, although the deal is still awaiting a medical to be completed and Mata needs to agree personal terms

personally i agree with you but i know a couple of people who think him signing and R.V.P and rooney returning soon they think it could jump start their season so wanted some peoples opinion to see what the general view is plus personally i can't even see them getting top 4 this year

RVP and Rooney wont fix nothing.
United fans use this as a excuse but lets look at there results start off the year.
Man Utd 1-2 WBA (RVP played)
Man Utd 0-1 Everton (Rooney played)
Man Utd 0-1 Newcastle (RVP played 90 Mins)

There fans need to admit that they only won the league last year is due to SAF and RVP as a quick fix.

They were just the best of a bad bunch last year...

Funny the way City,Arsenal and Chelsea are all now playing well that United are out the title race.

Mata does his best work behind the striker but im sure thats where Rooney plays now that RVP is upfront. They need a new back 4 and new defensive midfielders
