Finnish wrote I'd recommend upgrading the ram and graphics card as the strongest of all choices. What is your budget?

DayZ SA only uses a max of 2GB RAM and he has 3.3GB

DayZ SA isn't optimised yet, i have a FX-8320 and i still get lag . If your wanting to upgrade to just play DayZ SA id wait a bit til the game becomes more optimised so you have a better idea of what to get

With that sort of budget you could most likely pick up a FX6300 and a 270(X). This would give you PC such a huge boost. Also, if you want to make full use of your 4GB RAM install a 64-bit OS.

You can pick up a FX6300 and a 270(X) from Newegg for under $300 I'm sure. Just make sure you PSU is up to the job of powering the new GPU.

Might as well ask you here as it'll help the user anyway...

Question: Since DayZ is more CPU intensive would it help more to have the 6300 or the 8320? I've been reading about people saying the 6300 is more effective for DayZ since the 8320's extra 2 cores are made-up by reducing the power of the others, is this true?

Good question. I'm not sure about the 8320 decreasing the power of the other cores to make 2 more cores, but the 6300 does perform very well in both DayZ mod and DayZ SA. I can tell you that from first hand experience as I use a 6300 and 270X and I can run both on atleast high settings without dropping below 25FPS even in big cities such as Elektro. Though, that is on an overclocked 6300. Surely if the 8320 decreased the power of the other cores to make two more cores it would have a 95w TDP rather than a 125w TDP? But honestly I'm not sure, it would be worth looking up.

For DayZ a 6300 is enough.

I guess they're not too much apart t as I get about 20-25 FPS in Elektro on my 8320, I was just curious as I wanted to see the comparison as I currently have not found any online yet.

Yeah I didn't expect there to be much of a performance difference as the price difference isn't huge either.

While a 6300 will perform well in games, the 8320 is a great pick if you're on a higher of a budget.

For research I have done in the past, the 6300 is the same as the 8320 just the 6300 doesn't have the extra two cores built in. Since the 6300 takes 95w and the 8320 takes 125w it's safe to say that it looks like they just added two extra cores.

Doesn't make the 6300 bad while gaming, it's great for the money! Better than Intel's CPU's at that price. But in more heavy non-gaming applications the 8320 will perform better due to the extra cores it has.
