I'm in a fight with my girlfriend because she says it is illegal to stream movies online. I said yes in some ways it is. Can I get some opinions and maybe some legit links that say if its legal or not? Thank you.

Yes it's illegal to both stream and download movies. But I'm guessing both are very harmless tbh, depending on where you download/stream.

one of those laws that are there but not really followed up on unless in serious cases eg selling copies or showing to a lot of people.. homeviewing wise? nah you're good.

Well, I guess it depends on the movie and if it's out, when it was released, etc.
I'd say it's """more illegal""" (for lack of a better term) to stream/download movies that aren't out yet/in theatre, etc. BUT, it's illegal nonetheless.
Just keep in mind you're not going to get into trouble for doing this, as the people who get in trouble 99% of the time are the ones who post the movies.
